Rubberdoc is a new document download extension for Joomla 1.5. There are two plus points for this extension compared to the more popular and established Docman and Repository extensions. First, it is Joomla 1.5 native, while Docman and Repository are still in Legacy mode at the point of time of writing. Second, it is simpler. It does not have too much fancy stuff. Basically just category and file creation/upload.

One thing to note for rubberdoc extension is that the upload file size limit follows the Joomla setting. To change to upload file size, you have to go to site configuration and change the media upload size limit as shown in the figure.

I tried installing Rubberdoc this evening on my Joomla 1.5 site and have been unsuccessful. I can get into the component, but I can not upload anything. Any attempt to open the document manager generates the following error…

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting
    T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/craigdou/
    public_html/harrisburgbic/administrator/components/com_rubberdoc/controllers/doc.php on line 19

I have verified that my host is using PHP 5.2.6. and I have read the instructions multiple times. I’m certain I have carried out everything as instructed. Please help as I would really like to use this component as it sounds very promising.

I have the same problems, either with 0.9.4 or 0.9.6 version of RubberDoc.
Nothing wrong when used on localhost or my home Qnap NAS, but it does’t work on my online host. I can create categories in RubberDoc. But It gives me exactly the same error when attempting to open the document manager…

hi excuse me for my poor english, i read your post and your problem is the configuration in php.ini

There is a variable max_post and max_size that you must increment, first try upload a little bit file (10 or 20 kb) and if all ok try again when you modified your php.ini

    Good luck
